Bradford Birth to 19 is based at the outstanding St Edmunds Nursery School and Children’s Centre.  We work in partnership with Bradford’s best schools and most inspirational teachers to provide a truly school lead, practically based and research-informed training experience.

Trainees learn at their own and pace and are supported by an expert tutor team.

In June, we celebrated the successes of our fantastic trainees!

After their incredibly busy year, of hard work training to teach, our Head of Initial Teacher Training, Ben McGregor, addressed and applauded their resilience, ability to cope under pressure, and their teaching. All of our trainees have flourished, grown in confidence and grown as a people as well as teachers.

There are many people we need to thank for your success this year: our Admin team, the SCITT leadership team, the ITT coordinator who have worked closely with the SCITT to support you, as well as the tutors who have worked tirelessly with our trainees, visiting them in schools, setting targets, checking evidence, providing feedback and most importantly looking after all our trainees pastorally.  Thank you all. 

In preparation for September, here are our last bits of advice:

• Be kind
• Be kind to your colleagues, build those professional relationships, be professional.
• Be kind to the students you are working with get to know them, again build positive relationships.
• Finally, be kind to yourself!

The Julie Hayes Award

This award was set up in 2022 as a memorial to a much loved, and respected member of the course team at Bradford Birth to 19 SCITT.  Julie was a warm person, friendly person, she was always fun, she brought an air of calm to the team.  She had incredible knowledge of ITT, and had a real passion for education.  She made a huge difference to many peoples lives.
